DODD Medication Classes

DODD Medication Courses are for professionals who are employed either as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) with a home care agency or as an Independent Provider (IP) providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities. These courses allow providers to pass medications and perform healthcare-related activities only for individuals served by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
This program provides comprehensive instruction on medication safety, documentation, infection control, and the responsibilities associated with assisting individuals with prescribed medications. Participants learn proper medication administration techniques, how to recognize and report side effects or adverse reactions, and how to follow physician orders and individual service plans in compliance with Ohio regulations.
The training includes both classroom (or online) instruction and required competency evaluations, ensuring students understand state rules and demonstrate safe, accurate medication practices. Successful completion of the course allows participants to become DODD-certified Medication Aides, enabling them to administer medications in approved residential and community-based settings.
